Flying Cars

It has always been fascinating to me seeing compact flying vehicles in Sci-Fi movies. And for anyone that has same fascination, the time to using such vehicles in real life is closer than you may imagine. Some of these flying cars will be available as early as 2030 as projected by NASA (I personally believe the time to get certified flying cars/ vehicles will be shorter than that. I see other countries outside US taking up the challenge and overtaking the US in manufacture and sale of such vehicles).

Below are pictures of some of the designs in the works.

Puffin Personal Aircraft

Personal aircraft designed to reach speeds of over 240 km/h with a range of around 80 kilometres. The Puffin would be "hover-capable, electric-powered, super-quiet" and capable of vertical takeoff and landing.

Terrafugia Transition

The Terrafugia Transition, dubbed the "world's first flying car," can fly at a speed of 185 km/h, has a 740-kilometre range, and doubles as a car when its wings are folded up.

Icon A5

The Icon A5 can take off and land on water or dry land. The wings measuring about 10 metres are foldable, making it possible to park comfortably in a large garage. Its creator hopes to make "flying small airplanes the luxury motor sport of the 21st century."
